It seems like the goal in Hip Hop is to carve out your own lane. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being different, but these rappers try so hard to be different that the lyrics don’t even make sense.

E-40 I wouldn’t  even know where to begin with him. First off I will say I’m pretty sure not a soul has ever understood a word he has said except those who get hyphy. Most of his lyrics sound like tongue clicks and bird calls. Then again everybody who I’ve interacted with from the Bay, speaks like that or is dirty. You can’t expect much from a rapper who wears reading glasses.

RZA Great producer? Yes. Kung Fu enthusiast? Yes Great lyricist? Eh no. Besides the fact you almost never rhyme on beat, the lyrics and hook generally don’t coincide. But that’s ok, because at least give us great beats. You got to respect what he did for Wu Tang as a collective, and I’m pretty sure that his movie Man with the Iron Fist is a great flick, I’m also very confident in saying that his verse on ‘So Appalled’ was better than any other lyrical project he has ever done. At the very least his lyrics are funny because they make absolutely no sense, i.e. Domestic Violence.

N.O.R.E. I’ll be the first to admit that I am a huge NORE fan, but he makes up way too many words for his rhymes to even be coherent; the hell is the ‘yellzer bar’? (I probably didn’t even spell that right, if there is even a correct way to spell it). I’d say outside of Oye Mi Canto, most of his verse of Banned From TV and a few of his Capone and Noreaga verses, most of his catalog is incoherent, on top of the fact that he generally rhymes with no regard for the beat all together. BUT we definitely thank you for introducing us to The Neptunes, and always choosing great producers to work with.

Busta Rhymes Of course Busta was going to make this list; just off the strength that I haven’t been able to comprehend a lyric he has said in about five years and the ones we were able to decipher or prior to him making up his own language don’t create a complete thought. He gave us subtle hints tho, his fashion sense made no sense, we shouldn’t have expected much more from his music.

Das EFX I’ll say I’m happy they’re no longer rapping and that the song They Want EFX explains everything.
